Default Differences in radiators

...between 944 and 951.

Parts and Technical Reference gives them different pn's, but the pictures don't really show much of a difference. I've had a couple of turbo's, but no NA's so I'm not sure of the difference.

Reason I'm asking: I have a 951 radiator on eBay, there is a local wasserpumper with an NA that needs a radiator. His impression is that it would work. I have no idea other than understanding they have diff pn's. Can anyone definitively tell me if it will work on an NA. If not, why?

Thanks!

If you block off the extra holes in the Turbo Radiator I don't see why it will not work in an N/A car. However an N/A Radiator will not fit in a Turbo.

The turbo radiator is longer than the n/a along with the fan shroud.

the turbo radiator can be put into a NA car but the bottom core support needs to be lowered by a couple of inches. The lower support needs to be unbolted and a couple of extensions welded in that will lower the bottom mount.

Mark is absolutely correct in this. The Turbo/S2 radiator is taller by about 3/4 to 1 inch than the radiator in the regular 944 and 944S. Given that you need to welding and such to make the larger radiator fit, it is a real pain. Additionally, if you are looking for additional cooling from the larger radiator, I don't think you will get any because the opening for the radiator in the n/a cars is designed for the n/a radiator, and the extra part of the Turbo/S2 radiator will end up being covered up even if you do move the support such that it won't be getting airflow to make it work. You really have to have the Turbo/S2 bodywork, which has an opening for the radiator that is 3/4 to 1 inch taller than the opening in the n/a cars. The radiator goes with the nose.

In sum, I would suggest you stick with the correct radiator part number, and forget about using the Turbo/S2 radiator in an n/a.
