If it measures intake air temperature like it says, how would switching the coolant fans on affect the air temperature in the intake? Maybe I’m missing something, a wiring diagram would confirm what it does, my knowledge of the 16v cars needs brushing up on.
A/28 there is a switch described as "switch intake pipe cooling, only 4-valve version" and is triggered at 42 degree C.

Looking at the wiring diagram, it seems that it taps into the AC input to the fan relay, as there is a diode at B/27 (4-valve only) I presume preventing back feed to HVAC control

The “AC” terminal on the coolant fan relay receives 12v when the AC is on and as that intake pipe cooling switch is also in the circuit so it also receives 12v at the same time. I cannot see what it does with it when it reaches 42 deg C and closes but it’s not turning on the fans.

From my understanding when you turn on the AC, it sends 12v to the fan relay , turning on the fans, the switch under the manifold receives 12v from fuse 24, when that switch reaches 42 degrees it supplies 12v to the AC input of the fan relay thus causing the fans to operate, there are diodes stopping the current from flowing to the HVAC control panel , The HVAC circuit and the 4-valve pipe cooling switch are supplied by different fuses
