If you look at the last post in this thread you can see the two locations where the window regulators bolt in. https://rennlist.com/forums/944-turb...n-windows.html
Needs to be in the bottom holes on a late car.

Scott,
Have you installed manual windows yet?
I was looking at this again since I'm tearing the car apart, and I found a thread with a different difference between the early and late manual regulators -

I'll have to retrieve mine from the shop and see if they're early or late, I always assumed they were late. My passenger door is a mess inside so it's probably going to be replaced.

I had no idea there was that much of a difference.
I put manual regulators in my early car. I got them off ebay. On one end where they connected to the window they had these plastic bars on a large metal ball instead of the smaller ball with the plastic disk that the electric regulators had. I just ground and punched out the large ball and peened in the smaller ball from one of my electric regulators to get it to work with my 944 windows.
Here is a picture of one that is set up that way. I believe they might be from an early 924 that had a different system for attaching to the window.
I'm not sure the angles compared to the early/late 944 cranks but they could be an option for anyone willing to cannibalize their old electric regulator to convert to manual.

Sorry for the delayed reply, my computer's been in the shop since early August, just got it back.
No, I haven't installed the manual regulators yet (I only have one so far, driver's side). The fellow I bought it from sent me a drawing he'd done comparing early and late, and I came to the same conclusion, that removing the rivet and either re-installing it at a steeper angle or maybe welding it would turn the trick. Thanks very much for the cite, the pictures help a lot. It certainly looks do-able to me. If anyone has a lead on a passenger side regulator I'd be happy to take one off somebody's hands
Regards,

PS:
Sorry for the confusion, I'm catching up on my own thread and forgot I'd bought a pair of regulators (early) so I'm not looking for a passenger side regulator.
Too much stuff going on in the shop these days. For the past two months I've been working on the 928, re-building the air pump and upgrading the fuel lines/regulator and haven't done anything to the 944. Next week I should be back in Paso and on the 944 project.

Should be able to plug the holes with typical switch blanks-
