It fits nicely around the clip, but there's just too much extra vinyl hanging out when i plug the clip in the center counsole. I think it's the right size, I was reading through posts and noticed that you had trouble installing yours as well, do you have a picure of the finished product? It would be more than useful, thanks.

No I don't. My problem was I didn't have nearly enough so I broke the plastic piece. But Travis was great about it and refunded me the money and replaced the plastic frame and promised to send me a new one when they came in.

Dan,
These are the new batch so the fitment problem is not there anymore. (you will have a new one soon)
The tops are left long and should be trimed to fit. The cap just pops off shift ****. Take your time and it will come out looking great.
If you have any trouble please let me know. I need to make a tutorial for the install. Maybe I will get to it this weekend.

I ended up using a very small flat blade screwdriver.

Started with a small "L" shaped pick, but it was going to leave a mark, so I went with the screwdriver. Very slowly work it under and around the insert.

There are 2 tabs on the insert, 1 @ 3:00 and 1 @ 9:00 position. They fit down into slots in the gear shift handle/****.

The tricky part is to hold all of the vinyl/leather in the **** whilst replacing the insert. I redid mine several times. Ended up with one slight pucker/pleat that I'm not wild about, but, it was the best of several attempts.

I also put a small dab of silicone glue into the slots where the tabs fit, it has never come out or moved.

This was a Wheel Skins brand boot. It was a total PITA to get it stretched over the base plate, plastic will cut you like a ******

goingboeing737, what's up with the screws in the pic? The carpet goes over the plastic on mine, and no screws (IIRC). Did you order the wrong boot, or was it the tabs that failed, and had to compromise? It's been 10 years, but I need a new one as well. Just curious.

Good eye....

I was wondering if anyone would catch that.

Yeh, the tabs that hold the plastic plate into the console are shot. It is some kinda fiberboard stuff under there. It is pretty thick, so I tapped some holes into it and got some fancy hex head screws and use them to hold it in place.

I just redid all of my carpet, and thought the shifter plate looked better on top.

Does it look too bad?????
