Default 944 Passenger Side Fan Issue

Hey guys, I am having intermittent issues with my passenger side fan. I noticed it when I started to run a little hot so I consulted the Clarks Garage write up while I let it it over night. I went out, turned on the car with the AC on and only the drivers only the drivers fan worked. Indicating relay, fuse(look fine), or bad fan motor (spins freely but still have to test). I then unplugged the fan and plugged it back in and the fan began to work again. It did so for about a week then stopped again. I tried the unplug/plug thing again but did not work. This morning when I went out to the car it started up and both fans worked. When I restarted it 10 min ago it had stopped again. It is 90 degrees F where I am if temp is important and I have an early 944. I think it is either the relay, which is jammed in there and I can not easily get it out, or the fan motor itself. I intend to do the whole Clarks garage procedure but because it is intermittent I don't know if I can trust the results. What are your thoughts on this? Thank you.

Based on your description, I would start my getting a good quality electrical contact cleaner and use it to attack the plug you describe. If you have a voltmeter, check for voltage there.

thanks Harvey, I’m getting 0 juice to the passenger side fan. When I jump together the thermofan switch; still no juice to pass side fan. Checked and changed fuse too

Sounds like an intermittent and failing fan relay. Time to upgrade to the solid-state version if you determine yours is defective

Yup. after going through everything, went back and checked again and it was bad fan relay. Opened up the relay and the solder had a hairline crack. Reflowed it and everything is working properly. Thanks all!
