Default OT- Did anyone watch Risky Business last night?

Last night on AMC they ran Risky Business and had a little box scrolling on the bottom of the screen with info & trivia on the movie.
It was kind of interesting to know that the sound of the 928 was replaced with the soundtrack of a Ferrari V8.
They also said that Porsche would not give them a car to use in a movie about prostitution. The producers had to buy the car(s) for the movie. The producers said that it had to be a german car so they could use the line "So, who's the u-boat commander?"

ironic.. I saw it again last week. I watched the credits and Porsc#e wasn't mentioned anywhere. But a caterer was.. Hmmm.

I thought the engine sound was more throaty... it makes sense now.

I still like the back bumper being torn off the blue 911 in the towing scene of "Office Space".. I guess that's the only retribution I can get for owing a watercooler, laughing thru an air-cooled mangling scene..

Yeah, that exhaust sound was always very obvious wasn't it! I have the DVD. It was a $9 Walmart special one day and I grabbed it.

Interesting! I always thought the 928 in that movie had a very racey sound to the engine! I just figured that was how the 928 sounded.

One of my favorite movies of all time!

I made Renee sit thru it for the 20th time last nite. Good stuff! Would have been the perfect nostalgic 80's porsche-movie-fest if "Weird Science" and "16 Candles" followed it..............

The sounds used in a movie are rarely accurate. In other words the real thing doesn’t sound right. I was doing a play recently that needed a gun shot (old west 6 shooter) as a sound effect. A recording of a revolver didn’t sound right through their sound system. So I combined a shotgun recording with the revolver recording and then added some reverb to get an acceptable sound. I would be surprised if the Ferrari recording was pure. It’s all about the illusion.

You guys need to get over the hostility towards the 911 crowd

I love that scene in Office space as well!

Ferris Bueller is another great one. I cringe everytime the Ferrari goes crashing out of the garage.

Kinda rare for any 928 to have a manual. I looked high and low for a clean S4 with manual, came up empty.

If it makes you feel any better i read about it being a replica shell on a Fiat chassis....

All of those movies are great... Ferris Bueller's Day Off and Fast Times At Ridgemont High are some of my favorites... Risky Business isn't to far behind....

Take a good look at the 928 when it's on the dock just before it goes into the water. It looks pretty rough around the underside of the nose. I don't think that one even had an engine.

I wonder where the real car is today?
Anyone here with a champagne 1982 5 speed?
