What is this metal line coming up from around the brake fluid reservoir?
I noticed a raised bump on my hood this morning, almost like the hood was closed with a tool left in there (but it wasn't). I'm fairly sure that this bump occurred with the hood closed. On the underside of the hood where the raised bump is, the left-over adhesive is worn away and white, and the highest point in that metal line is what is making contact there. You can see on the metal line, right near the red cap, where it is shiny - that is where the line is the most raised and where it is contacting the underside of the hood. Is it possible that that like could raise up with enough leverage to make a small bump? Are are some pics.
That does look like an abrasion instead of an impact. I've left tools on the engine and experienced impacts.
I can say that I've been successful repairing impact injuries using a rubber mallet and a short section of 2x4 stud. If you're careful the damage can be completely removed.
