Default Where's the tow hook stowed on an S2?

I looked at the back of the "trunk" next to the spare tire, didn't find any tools but a original Porsche 12V compressor and a jack. I figured the hook would be the same place they put it in the 928 but it isn't.

Where's it supposed to be? If I need to I can use the one off the 928 but if it's in there somewhere it would be nice to know.

Thanks,

It's stowed in the missing tool roll with the factory tools.

So it should be in the spare wheel well then? I suspected as much.

I just need it to pull the car back onto the lift. I took it off to wash it and take some insurance pictures and the starter motor quit on me.

It's like they know or something...

They do know., but it's a good opportunity to upgrade to the high-torque starter.

So what's a good make? The motor on it looks brand new, but installed by the PO, then reinstalled by me. No docs on it of course. I'll bench test it before I replace it, but I can hear the solinoid fire so I'm pretty sure it's the motor.

On that note, I'll leave you with this. I just spent about four hours winching my car back onto the lift with a come-along...

I upgraded to these in both my cars, very happy with them. High-torque starter.

Too much risk and I already had it 5 feet from the lift. It died while I was trying to get it on the lift so it was lined up just fine and I'd have had to turn it around somehow to get it pointed downhill.

I'm way up in the middle of nowhere. It was just me and my dog, so you'll have to trust me that winching it onto the lift was the easiest thing to do...

Refer to the photo?

Thanks Mike. I'll very certainly check these out completely. I also happen to own a 928 so I'll keep them in mind if I have a starter failure there too, but I also have a spare for that car.

How long have you been running these parts?

Regards,

Stock starters have served me well for many years, I'm not sure if there is much to be gained there. Maybe in a big high-compression race engine some more oomph would be needed. They should be easy to rebuild as well.

Some punk stole the hook out of the s2's tool roll at some point in its life. Time to source a replacement.

Errr.. there's no tool roll at all.

The weird part is they left the original Porsche compressor. I think I'll put it in my 928
