Maffia? Don't think Lifetime has anything to do with the car do you?

They are checking availability - if it comes through, I will post the name. Called everyone. This gentleman I talked too was honest, he said every once and a while they get a bad one. But, they have a nation wide guarantee he said.
It was either O'Rielly Automotive or Car Quest - I can't remember which one. Sounds like too good a deal too me, hopefully they call me back Monday.

OK, go to O'Reilly Automotives web site and search, you will find half shafts for $59.99 with a core charge of $100.00 and a lifetime warranty. Only trouble is, they said they can't get them, it has to go through a "dealer", whatever that means. Bummer, I am checkin with the MFG to find out what's up.

CarQuest is still checking availability, but they are at $81.53 with a one year warranty and I forgot to get the core change . . . .

Hope this helps -

Steve

FWIW, I bought a pair of Löbro OE CV joints at a European auto parts supplier here in the Caribbean that specializes in VWs for $47 each.

Part Number for the early cars is:

211.501.331

I'm boning up on the DIY in Haynes and just may give it a shot this weekend. Swapping axles would be easier, but it's a PITA for me to have to ship the core to get the deposit back.

Jeff is undergoing some major re-structuring of his company should be back up soon focusing more on the manufacturing end of things.

CarQuest called - they can get a half shaft, ReMan, for $81.53 plus shipping, plus core charge.
I think I still want to buy new CV's and just rebuild these . . .

For what it's worth, I ordered the axle assembly from autozone last week for my 87 944 turbo and received this:

which had this on the other end:

Not exactly what I was expecting! I have no idea what car this axle is for... any thoughts?

Take the crap back to Autozone and tell them you want your old one back. It's the wrong part!
