Default Spare Tire of Sub wolfers?

I bought My 968 last month and the old owner had pulled out the spare tire and put in Sub wolfers. The system sounds good, but i'm gonna get stranded if my tire blows.

is there anyway I can have both?

Nah they don't =) I have 2 15's in my car, handles freakin sweet.
You can't have both in the same place, go figuire. The option you have, is to build a box that fits behind one of the rear wheels, I don't know how the interior of a 968 looks, particularily in the rear, but in the 944's you have about 1 cubic foot of space behind each rear wheel. Perfect displacement for a fiberglass box for a 10, maybe even a 12 (would take 1.2cubic ft for decent sound). Could also just build a MDF box for the sub, and carpet it.
If you have any questions about building a sub box, feel free to toss em at me.

A good woofer weighs in the ballpark of 10lbs on up. My ppi's are 25lbs each. A good box with 3/4 MDF at .5 cubic feet per sub with a divider, all the glue and screws is another 15lbs per speaker. Now add the amp, those are not light either, I'm running two.
So, the PPI setup I have (not in the Porsche) is over 100lbs complete. 100lbs of added weight in a 944? No thanks. I can notice a difference between a half tank and a full tank of gas.
If you really want the subs in a 944/928, build a box that goes behind the drivers seat to get the weight as low as possible and centralized.
Also, leave the tire at home and join AAA.

Here's a pic of the custom box in mine. It holds three 10" rockford fosgates. Right now the amp is just in the middle of the floor, but i will be making an enclosure for it, too.

I like the hidden boxes that go in the rear wheel wells, IM going to go on the KLA site and try and find the weight specs for those

My system weights about 220 lbs, those 15's are about 45lbs each, plus 2 amps and a whole bunch of crap, but it's worth it =)

Crisis - why the hell would you want that in your car? It looks kind of like a nicely painted lego (inverted of course). Maybe it goes in the truck :>)

Zero - most of us spend time trying to lose the weight from the car (some of us, myself included, could stand to lose a few pounds from the *** first:>)) Very few us the performance oriented guys are going to ADD 220 lbs to a car, that is a very noticeable amount of weight.

that's the pics from the web page, the one in my car is being shipped today and will be painted silver to match the car. I gave the place that built it the measurements so it fits perfectly right behind the back seats and doesn't take much room. it looks a hell of a lot nicer then just plain boxes.

In my range rover i got a 250 watt amp and a 12 inch JL sub... amp weighs only like 5 pounds.. and the subwoofer with box about 10 maybe? 15 pounds makes as much of a difference as putting your school bag in the back.. and that gives plenty of bump, especially in such a small car, it bumped a range rover. :P if you want to go crazy, thats your choice, but you can just do something like that and not sacrifice handling or sound too bad

Any amp rated for 250 watts that only weighs 5 pounds is a joke. A real 250 watt amp has more than 5 lbs inside and ALOT more than 5 lbs of heatsinks on it. 5 lbs is more like 12 watts, unless your rating is at peak output and at 85% distorsion and mono! "Back in the day" you could tell a quality amp from a POS by the rating, bad amps were rated in watts, good ones were in pounds.
