"Man i want to drive it today but cant because of the snow."

Ridiculous! A 944 is a great winter car! Just get good tires.

Like TaboII said, i's not the snow that kills my car, it's the awful salt that make driving in the winter in NJ an issue with the 944S2.

Great descriptions of the favorite things about your cars. Keep them coming!

TaboII & others: glad you liked my story. It's true, every second of it! (But now I'm mad at myself too, 'cause the track season's over 100 days away!)

Here is what I like about the car:
-the way a 17 year old car still turns heads

-the Porsche smell (older Porsches especially...they all smell the same)

-the way it gives me something to do when it breaks down

-How I can take a clover-leaf on-ramp at 50 MPH when the recommended
speed limit is 25 and I still feel safe as the tires aren't screaming

-How it looks good, no matter what

-the way people look at me when I get out of it at Breckenridge Ski resort and take my snowboard off of the rack

-Summer nights with the windows down and the sunroof off...especially after a detail

-How it reminds me of my first car (a 1985 Nissan 200SX) but out-performs it 10-fold

-Road trips

-the sound of the exhaust, the growl, the roar, and the scream

-the way the seats feel

-How it feels so light and nimble compared to, well, anything

-The Porsche "brotherhood" that I get from PCA and Rennlist members

-the way that I laugh at people when they tell me I have a nice RX-7

-the way it handles on snow with snowtires

-the smell of the exhaust

-and last but not least, the Koni Shocks when they are set to full race shocks and I'm bouncing all over the car when driving around town. (yes, I like that...a LOT!)

All in all, despite the cost of repairs and everything I've done to it, it's the best investment of my life. there is nowhere I don't take this car, and it handles it well.

Yeah. I love that too. I backed into a spot in front of a ricer. the idle didn't set off the alarm, but when I revved the engine, it beeped...so I revved it a little higher...beep again, then I nearly redline it, and the alarm started blaring. the owner runs out of the shop, and sees me sitting there, laughing.

Heheh...nice...I park in a multistory parkade at my university full of ricerockets, and going up thru the levels, I count how many car alarms sound warning beeps or go off...my record is 6 in one pass thru the parkade!!!

gleamingred944 i should have wrote "Man i want to drive it today but cant because of the SALT" But anyway i did take it out for about 30 miles and washed it when i was done and parked it in the garage. Got my Porsche car cover coming this week from 944online. Oh one thing, when its really cold outside and i start the car and get ready to take of from a complete stop it seems like its going to stall when i let go of the clutch. It does it on the second gear to but one i get thru all gears and get back to a stop it doesnt do it again(engine is now warm). I guess its because the motor is cold. Any input?

Prolly just cuz it's cold. Mine, when you put in the clutch after moving in low gears, it goes to a really low idle for a moment, but pops right back. it does seem like it's gonna stall for me too.

YES, that was one of the most enjoyable 'perks' to ownership.
Often I could just see the thought process:

*sees 944
*look of wow-awesome-looking-car
*look of wait, why is HE driving THAT?
i'd get these all the time, and would just crack up laughing in response

On another note that someone hasn't mentioned yet, is THE WAVE! The first time I got a wave from a fellow p-car owner (older 911), I had a smile plastered on my face for the entire rest of the way home. I just felt so cool that I was a member of such an appreciative ownership, the aforementioned Porsche Brotherhood.

What I like most about the car is the ridiculous torque. Mashing the pedal in 5th at 70 and watching 120 blister by just seconds later never ceases to amaze me.

Well weathered leather,
Hot metal and oil
The scented country air
Sunlight on chrome (?)
The blur of the landscape
Every nerve aware
