Default Head Help!!

The car we bought with the broken T belt, has some bent valves. I have the head off. there are 4 exhaust valves that you can see that are bent. Do intake valves usually not get bent?

Also where is the cheapest place to get valves? What is the usual cost for a machine shop to fix this......?

Thanks Craig

Get them all checked, and you might as well get your head rebuilt while it's off.

I paid $300 to have the head rebuilt when it was off my car.

$300 is not bad. Now add a few valves and it gets pricy. Plus Belts rollers, Water Pump, front seals, and gaskets for the head and exhaust.... $1200 ???

Thanks Craig

This isn't the S in your sig is it? For an 8 valve, $1200 should cover it if you're doing the install and belts etc. yourself, maybe a bit more if you're paying for labor. A 16 valve head is a whole 'nother story....

Yeah but do it right the first time. For the best price on new valves I would check with:

www.paragon-products.com

www.944racing.com

A head gasket set will have new valve stem seals in it so since you need one, send the valve stem seals with the head so the shop won't charge you for those..
Check with some reputable dismantlers about valves, good straight ones.

Craig:
Call Don at Eagle Automotive Machine: 770-339-3053.
He is going to do the head on my S2 as soon as I can get it out to him. He seemed very knowledgeable about our cars when I spoke with him. Plus, he came very highly recommended from the shop foreman at jim Ellis Porsche.

Yes I was planning on taking it to Eagle Automotive. I have only heard good things about them.

Does anyone have an idea on the price from exhaust valves?
