Stock 83 944. 15" Cookies, spare tire in, 3/4 tank of gas, some tools in the back: 2818 lbs

Same car, 16"Phone Dials(20lbs heavier), no spare, 1/2 tank of gas, no A/C, some easy lightening stuff(headers, battery, etc): 2601 lbs

Good job on making the car lighter!
It's hard to believe that AC and "some easy lightening stuff" saved you 200 lbs... After all, the spare and 1/4 of gas tank compensates for the heavier wheels.
What exactly did you do?

Fuel is aprox. 7.5 lb/gal IIRC, so that's 35-40 lb right there, the spare alone almost makes up for the heavier wheels and I've seen Ken's idea of "some tools"...

Guilty as charged! There was probably about 20lbs of tools and other misc junk in the trunk.

The spare was probably aliitle more too including the jack. I'd say about 30 and The gas was 35-40 lbs.

The A/C was probably 30-40 lbs for everything. The battery went from a 40lb stocker to a 15 pound dry cell. I changed the early cast headers to late tubular ones which were 10 lbs lighter.

That's pretty much it. I was hoping to be in the 2600-2700 range after I did all that and was pleasently surprised to be right at 2600. I recently put in some fiberglass one piece sport seats and a redline roll bar. It's almost a bust, probably saved 20-25lbs a seat and put a 30-40 lb roll bar in. So maybe another 10 lbs.

I will say that the 200 lbs lost made a very big difference in the feeling of the car. Alot more pep!

The official weight was 2778 lbs. Unleaded gas weighs closer to 5.5lbs. If you really want to get accurate weigh the car with a full tank of gas and whenever you weigh it to see how much weight you took out, fill it up. That way you take away a variable.

Just got rid of everything I didn't need.I still have a ways to go.
I will replace the fenders with Carbon fiber.going to do the hatch with 1/8 lexan, take the power window crap out and replace all four side windows with lexan.
It is no longer a street car.
Fiber glass hood only weighs 11 lbs fiberglass bumpers no lights,no carpets.most the undercoating it off, took more weight than I would like to tell out of the motor and trans
