I was just talking to my dad and he said that his car which is a 99' saab 93 convertible wouldn't leave park. It is an automatic. Anyone have any ideas on what that could be? I was thinking either frozen gearbox or faulty wiring from the brake to the button on the shifter. what could be done to fix this problem also? Right now I'm just kind of too lazy to look at it or even call up the saab dealership. anything would be great thanks.

IIRC, there's a hole near the shifter were you insert something (the key in some cars) and it frees up the mechanism.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean ? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

hahaha ok... well I saw a little button right next to the shifter... it looks like it would be a reset button and I tried that while putting it in gear, b4 putting it in gear.. pretty much any way. and yet still nothing!

Most likely to be the shift interlock switch. It is activated by the brake, you should be able to see it if you can get down there. While I don't have answers as to how to replace it or where to get one, I think that is the problem because of the amount of use it gets and the unlikelyness of other major problems on a car that new

ya... I can hear when I put on the brake a little "click" for lack of a better term that initiates the shift interlock switch. You are probably right though, Tomorrow at work my boss has those CDs that know where everything is on all cars and problems and stuff I'll just ask him that... thanks Kevin
