Does your car?
My starter sounds like it cranks a LOT slower than usual when it's below 30' or so, the colder it is the more lethargic it sounds, I feel like I'm lucky that it starts in the morning, but it always does.
2 weeks ago I had the battery load tested at Auto Zone and it came out OK, last winter it did the same thing, but always started.
I'm running Castrol 10/40 in it, too.

Paul, it could also be resistance in your battery cables. You never did get those from me did you?
The starter shouldn't slow down that much if you are only in 30*F running 10/40 and a good battery. You would be in trouble if you got caught in sub-zero. But the starter will suck much more current as you stiffen up the engine turnover demand. If your cables and connections are not up to snuff, the resistance under increased starter load is just dropping voltage too much and slowing the spin rate down.
