That would be great if I wasn't hurting for money right now. Until I get
a job, this 924S is just a daily driver for me. But I'm pretty close to having
my heart set on making it a Carrara GT like that red and black one now!
Damn that just knocks me over looking at it.
And honestly, this is bothering me since Mike pointed it out, but I'm not
being ricer about wanting to make a replica and put Carrera fender stickers
on it, am I?
I mean, damn, it's not like you can just go out and buy a Carrera GT!!

you can, just need a lot of $$$. Your not being ricer by delighting many porsche enthusiests, and yourself, when you drive it down the road. its NOT rice. if you put a nos sticker, or Type-R, then you would have to be shot.

clubautosport.co.uk has kits for many different conversions like 968 and carrera. Have a look around there site, there going overboard with there new racer as the rules are being dropped so it's going as far as is possible with rice look but you need to look past that.

Kenny makes a very good point. I think a CGT (or CGTS/CGTR) replica is not rice at all. I am a bit purist though, that black/red two-face looking car is a bit too much for me. I like them in the traditional silver, red, black, or white (all one color). But, they say, variety is the spice of life, eh?

Add that to the list and you're good to go.
No it's NOT rice. Heck slap a turbo'd 968 or S2 engine in there and half the people on this board would kill you for it.

there are some good discussions @ 924board.org about this stuff all the time... pesonally, I'd want to go the hard way and use an early 924 to do it. But then again, I'm just after some documentation on how to stick a 944/951 engine in the engine bay of an early 924 - not easy without some welding for crossmember mounting points. But hey, it's probably how the factory had to do it. On the other hand, I've had my eye on a 87 924 S sitting in a body shop for the past six months with no one to drive it. It's got 60k or 160k miles and it's a black/black. The dude wants to sell it for 2500.00... damn cheap for the condition it's in.

Were you doing just a Carrera GT look or the whole shebang? I sold a Carrera GT intercooler to some that replicated one from a 931. He said he had an intercooler fabricated, but wanted the real thing.

I'm just going for the look for the GT. I figure the paint needs to be done
anyways, why not lighten the car with some fiberglass while widening
the fenders and adding a little phat to my skinny car.
Who knows, maybe I could find someone to drop a 951 motor into the
924S. I'm sure it's been done before.
But as I said earlier, I'm just fishing for ideas and thinking about all this.
Until I get a new tech job, it's all just daydreaming.
