I've had KYB's and they were fine. I prefer my current Bilsteins though.

bilstein hd The only choice these days. Boge/sachs in the rear have been discontinued, kyb is way to harsh with affixed rear spring plates (we call them the "kids" shock) Koni too expensive and not as good as bilstein!

[QUOTE=Petza914;14198488]I don't recall the specific part # since I installed them many years ago but they came from Automation. Rears are black with the fixed spring perch and a yellow label on them.
Wow--very clean (both dirt-wise and mechanically). You are inducing dangerous nostolgic memories...

Thanks a lot. Exterior and Interior aren't bad either. Spent about 4 years of weekends turning 2 cars into this one, but that was about 14 years ago. Kids are 9 and 12 and am planning to let them learn to drive stick and tool around in it occasionally.

Nice!
And I endorse teaching your kids to drive a MT. I taught both of mine how to drive in a 5 speed Subaru, as well as how to check and maintain mechanicals. I was especially proud when my daughter, who eventually claimed that car to take to college, was able to change both the timing belt and the clutch (with a little help from dad).
Added bonus: most kids can't drive a MT, and so her car was much less likely to get borrowed.

I'll add my name to the Bilsteins list, I have Bilstein sports on mine. plenty stiff but not too harsh in my opinion. The sports are different colors front/back. rears are yellow with and adjustable spring perch, fronts are green.
Here are the fronts next to the old Boge I replaced. All of the valving is in the upper section of the Bilstein sports so it reduced unsprung weight. on top of that, the entire assembly is lighter than the Boge.
