Default Just bought a 914. 4cyl or 6cyl?

Back of car says 914 2.0 How can I verify if it is a 6cyl? On the road right now, pics coming soon.

No offense, but you bought a 914 and don't even know if it's a 4 or 6? 2.0 would be a 2 liter four if original. OEM sixes were 2 liter but never had that badging.
Real sixes were made through '72 but '72's are REAL rare. I had a'71 and there were only 240 or so that year.
What year is it? Third number in VIN if a 4 is the year, 471XXXXX would be a 1971, 472 a '72 etc.

No offense taken, thank you very much for that info. It is a 4cyl. I bought the car from a friend of a friend for $300 dollars. It runs pretty solid, all the lights work, turn signals etc., interior is rough but all there. Has some rust but all the parts are there. Bought it sight unseen so i think I did ok. It is a 1974.

Hard to go wrong for $300! Even if it was a total rustbucket the parts alone are worth a LOT more. Or it can be a fun project that will end up costing a LOT more than $300

And you won't have to backdate the bumpers!

Most $300 cars I find are worth about $100. Sounds like you did pretty good!

Here are some pics after I power washed the grime it had all over. I got a box with the turns and tail lenses. Reverse in first really threw me off though.

I guess your 928 is a "Roger Box" then, since 5speed 928's also have a dog leg gear box.

Amazing that you can pick these up for that price, well done!

Good old Monza exhaust- surprised it isn't rusted through, or maybe it is... that exhaust on my dad's 914 back in the '70's lasted about 2 years.
What are you going to do with it??? Restore or donor car??

I especially like that baby chopper and the Impala

Hahaha we try to keep "cool cars" up front that impala is out of place. No it's not rusted through at least it doesn't sound like it. Will have to get it up on a lift to check the underside. From what I can tell getting it back to 100% original will be expensive and not something I have the time for. But I will certainly be keeping it. When this semester is over and I have some time I'll photoshop what I want it to look like.

Wow, I've recently been offered a similar looking 1.7 '72.....but the asking price was close to $3000, (17 000 swedish crowns)
