Default new to me 1975 914

Well guys I finally did it, dragged home (2) 1975 914's. So I am back to the cars I love. Ask me how I feel after I get started. I promise pictures once I get started. I believe the white one (actually metallic silver) is to be the core chassis and the maroon one is to complete the missing parts and be used for needed panels to make one whole car. No engine or transmission, but no matter I will build either a 3.0 - 3.8 at some point. I have parts for a 916 transmission and want to make 3 piece 17" fuchs wheels 7 & 9's - yes - AA steel flares, 930 rotors all around and 993 calipers. Jim

Have fun, but one suggestion- backdate the bumpers!

very high on my list - doing the backdate makes the car look normal. Jim

Well, got the registration paid for, so title should be on its way. It is currently white but was originally silver. It was a roller so there is not much to really show. Jim

An inspiring picture to be sure. Thank you for sharing. I removed the front bumper and cut off the metal tab to hold the cover on fenders. Not much but a start. I also got good news at DMV, since the car was off the road for 5 years they waived the penalties so I have a refund check coming - great news since I am sure I need that and much more. Jim

have fun putting it back together, I'm slowing doing it to the '73...

That silver "6" is nice!! I'll bet the original owner never dreamed it would sitting next to a 4-door Porsche SEDAN!!

What do you guys think about the rear fin? I kind of like it but am torn on adding one to my car.

Personal preference but I've never really cared for them... the flares are neat too but I guess I prefer the classic look as mine don't have a killer engine and don't need super wide wheels or tires. I've got 6X16 Fuchs with 205's and that seems like plenty of tire!!

Well - I got a title for a 1975 914. Wow! Now if I can just the refund for the back fees I paid two days earlier. I am swamped with wheels so everything is going to wait until later this fall. My plan is use one for parts so I can make a complete car. As soon as I decide what I need I will disassemble #2 for my car and then sell everything else. Jim

I just got a set of used Speedline wheels in that are much rougher than I like so I am thinking about making a set to fit the 914-6 conversion. Who has flares installed? I know 8" in the rear is just about as big as you can go, but I am thinking 7.5 or 8" fronts and 9 or 9.5 rears x 18" of course with the correct offsets so no spacers are needed or just minor ones. If all the parts were not sitting here staring at me I would not really consider this option. Thoughts guys? jim jdorociak@gmail.com
