Great pictures!!!!!! Your Dad's old 914 looks like mine, crazy. Actually, the PO of my car drilled holes in the hood and put this ugly Porsche logo crest there. I think it was the center cap from a 356, but I am not sure. Anyway, when I got the car I took it off right away and I had a OE Porsche crest sitting around and wouldn't you know it fit perfectly on the hood. I personally don't like it as that is not how the factory intended it, but it looked better then what was on it.

Probably, people will do some stupid stuff when they get a few beers in. I still have the old crest, I will take a photo and post it just so people can get an idea of how foolish people are.

Isn't it too bad everything back then was held on by clips that required holes to be drilled??? Nowadays it is so easy to debadge something with dental floss??
I filled in the holes on the back panel where the 914 was on the '73- filled in the antenna hole, windshield washers, side reflectors etc- will look a lot cleaner. Who needs windshield washers in Arizona?? Hell they were worthless anyway!!

yeah the last 2.0 I saw had a crest on it, I din't think it looked bad, I actually thought it was original until I heard otherwise. And you're right about the $9K thats about whats needed. So I probably won't be getting a 914 any time soon.
In any event the car that I was going to look at next, owned by the family friend of somebody I go to school with, turned out to be a 1978 928. He says its fuel injected, 5 speed, manual. Sounds like a nice car but it just isn't a model i was considering. I was looking for either a 914 or a karmann ghia. Probably next car I'm looking at is a 1956 Fairlane, in what appears to be good shape (but we'll see) and at a very affordable price, its a 4door. Anyway, thats a big departure from a 914, but I'm really just in the market for an affordable classic, and initially I thought that would be a 914.
I'm liking the pictures you posted though! Very cool, I will have to dig up some oldies too, My grandpa worked for Porsche in the 70's, he may have some pics of the various cars he drove. I may even be able to find some pics with Ferdinand Porsche or his son in them.

If you look you can find a deal on one, I know I did. I bought mine for under $5K because the guy didn't know what the values were. So keep looking, they are out there.

I friend of mine has a 944, I'll probably be riding around in it with him for the NY/NJ/CT/PA thanksgiving weekend run. (see events threads) They are definitely nice cars, but not exactly what I'm looking for. They are an appreciating classic, but I guess I'm looking for something a little older.
