Can't wait!
Few years ago I bought my 914. A very solid car and a blast to drive! I had it less than one year when the engine caught fire. (most of the damage could have been avoided if I wasn't so afraid of the flames). Anyway, after an excruciatingly long wait, I finally see light at the end of the tunnel. I should have the car back within a month. I went ahead and had the engine worked over, eliminated any oil leaks, and had the whole thing re-sprayed. It's really looking good, and I can't wait to drive it again! (just venting)

took whole car down to metal and resprayed same metallic blue color. Got rid of yellow (calipers and rocker stripe), and went to silver. I really miss driving this car!

I remembe trying to start my car in Porsche Park at Road America back in the early '70's- wouldn't start and REALLY smelled like gas. Flipped open the engine compartment and there was gas EVERYWHERE! One of the gas lines had come off with 30psi fuel being sprayed all over. Thank God it didn't catch on fire. Never go anywhere without a fire extinguisher in the car - started that day!!
A friend was driving his restored '66 E type Jag in Scottsdale a couple years ago when he had an electrical fire out of nowhere (Lucas electrics you know) that started to consume the dash- luckily some guy behind him had just come from Costco with a case of drinking water bottles- they used them to put it out... but the car basically needed a new restoration. Was worth the wait, the car is beautiful, and fun to cruise in. He even let me drive it!!

no pix yet, but the car goes back to the mechanic today. He is pretty busy, so no telling how long it will take him to put it all back together again. This has been a terrific learning experience for me.

Everyone wants pix around here
We'll have two resurrected 914's before long, even though I doubt my '73 will be running before next year. A little hiccup rebuilding the engine- the bolts holding the cam gear were hitting the oil pump so the engine wouldn't turn over. Fixed that last weekend... car should be getting paint as I type this. Hopefully will have time to visit the shop soon- not too far away, but a 2 hour drive does cut into your schedule!
