no, not a dd. I have not had it on the track, but the previous owner did a lot of autox before he sold it to me. In fact, he installed a receiver on the rear bumper, attached a trailer hitch, and pulled his track tires, tools, and equipment to each autox event he entered. After I purchased it, I was at a local convenience store when I was approached by a guy who told me he thought he knew the car, and asked me if it had a receiver installed.

here we are in November...and I am tempted to start counting down the days again...should have it within the next two weeks, but in the resto car world, that apparently could mean months.

update on my 914... still looks like I might have it in the next two weeks. This whole experience has been a cruel joke. On me.

It will be interesting to see the silver decals. I like the original color with the yellow decals. It is not a color I have seen before but looks very classy. If there is a way to stage both colors before the final decision, you should think about it. Might be nice to have the other Rennlisters chime-in. That is a great looking car either way.

I hear you, but the calipers have already been done, so it's unlikely I am going to change them again, so I will deal with the consequences of my decision. In person the yellow looked a little cheesy (no pun), and I am attracted to a more muted appearance. We will see, hopefully in 2012.

Make sure you post up some photos when you get it back! What's the weather in OKC? Can you drive it?

Nice car! Question; when the B-pillar (aka roll bar) does not have optional vinyl on the two sides, is the very thin deco that fits at the base of the vinyl not used?

Skl; remember the fire extinguisher, but never forget to properly install a hose clamp on every end of every gas line!

The thin chrome strip at the base of the sail panel vinyl is not used when there is no vinyl on the panels.

Thank you! My car has a couple small patches of surface rust, and I'm considering eliminating the vinyl and just repainting both sail panels.

Now, back to the thread - I love the color of that car.

Pete, you'll have several small holes to fill if you delete the sail panel and deco strip. And a hole at the back that holds a bracket to hold a larger flat deco strip on the back of the panel.

My 2nd 914 didn't have the vinyl and I actually prefered it. Now that I think of it, my 914-6 didn't have it either, but that was because the PO had removed it when he painted it. I think it looks cleaner in my opinion.

Yes, it might, but my biggest problem is that I like the bright work that frames the vinyl. I guess, on a black car, it might not make much difference, take off the vinyl but keep the trim? Hmmmm...

The weather has been unseasonably warm this winter. The only thing that would keep me from driving it (besides wife, kids, body shop and mechanic) is ice or snow. Otherwise I have no problem driving it in the cold.

I was told on Friday that the engine is running very smoothly, that my hydraulic lifters need some adjustment, and then the mechanic would get it out on the road. ( I asked him to put some miles on the car). Then the car goes back to paint/body shop for some touch-up, some details (like badging and decals), and then...some day...back to me.

some

day!
