And now..... I am going to sell it.
It is in mint condition, and I am starting to treat the car as a GarageQueen....
Becomming afraid using it

Don't sell it. Remember that parf of the fun is building it and part is driving it. Just take it out for fun.

Deciding the price was a challenge. Typically the demand and offer has a way to work this out, but I have to few other cars to compare it against.
I put it out on mobile.de for €49.000 ( http://starturl.com/xesam ) and left in a little room for negotiation

I am in the mood for a 964 with a 3.8 engine that I can strip down and play with

Tightened every nut and bolt and did an alignment - the car felt better than ever before.
Reduced the price down to €46.000 and imidiately got a response.

Polished the car and went for a long drive - when I got home I did not know what to do. I had never felt like this about the car before. One thing was for sure; I could not sell it....

So long story made short - I am keeping it

I agree keep it. I sold my 914-6 after 20 years and still miss it. I was going to build a widebody 964 3.8 with a G50 21 and finally decided there is something about the 914 and how simple it is. As I sell off my project car I am going to build a 916 replica instead with a 916 transmission and a 95 993 engine. Jim

can anyone school me on the bumpers?

i briefly debated painting my red 924s bumpers black/yellow then dismissed the idea thinking it would be crazy. here we are a year later and i find this sexy 914-6. is there any significance to this style paint job?

on a different note, the more i look at 914s the more i think i may get one for my second porsche.

Come to the dark side and you won't drive your 924 again. That is what happened to me!

Porsche prepared three 914/6 GT for the 86 hour race from 18th to the 22nd of August 1970 - Marathon de la Route 1970

They finished 1, 2 and 3
1st, Gérard Larrousse / Claude Haldi / Helmuth Marko, VW-Porsche 914/6, 360/358 laps
2nd, Björn Waldegaard / Aake? Andersson / Guy Chasseuil, VW-Porsche 914/6, 359/357 laps
3rd, Claude Ballot-Léna / Steckonigg / Nico? Koob, VW-Porsche 914/6, 356/354 laps

They were all signal orange with either read/black, green/black or yellow/black paint jobs

Jay,
914's do not weight very much as compared to the 924's. So wouldn't it be "the light side"? LOL

True! They are like driving go karts! The 924 will feel like a boat.

As backwards as it may sound, I would probably keep the 24 as a track car and get a clean "stockish" 14 for the weekends and shows.
