Might purchase this 914...thoughts?
I live on one end of a VERY twisty road, and work on the other, with about 8 miles between the 2. Im wanting something fun and inexpensive to drive to work and back. I currently drive a 2006 BMW X3, which I enjoy, but Im killing the miles. Im in a long hunt for a 911, but wont buy one until the PERFECT car comes along. This could ease the fun bug for a while. What do you guys think of this car? im totally new to 914's...

I would be wary. The flairs look messed up on the front. Can't tell if there is any rust either. Driver's side engine grill is messed up too. I would probably pass if it was me...

Run. Wonder how bad and how much rust was there before the $400 re-spray... Read between the lines here as well. Tranny doesnt shift into first could mean the synchro is shot. Backfires means at a minimum the carbs are out of tune maybe even need complete rebuild. Flares in front are very strange. Wheels are rare, but way too much rubber for that motor to push around. Look at the filth in the front engine compartment - poor care of the car in general. Also Automobile Atlanta has a horrible reputation - I would not buy anything from them even if they were the last parts supplier on earth. Jay Gratton on the other hand... ;-)

NIck,
California is the place to look. All 914s rust. But if you can find one in the Southwest or California you will do less rust repair if any.
Shipping is not that bad.
I have one for sale but it is a six with a bolted in cage. Road worthy but not really a creature comfort car. Screaming quick in corners.

Thanks Bill J!!!!!! I would pass, I don't like to put down other companies, but I agree with 95993 and Matt, I would pass. You'll spend more money getting it going.
