The standard 914 engine is an opposed 4 cylinder. It has 8 valves. Two Cylinder heads. Does it have 8 cam lobes and 8 cam followers? I'm trying to order stuff and I don't know how much of it.
What's the theory behind this engine?
Thanks a bunch

Not exactly The cam only has four lobes. The lobes of the cam drive lifters(cam followers)intake on one side exhaust on the other.
You need 8 lifters some prefer hydraulic some solid depends on the cam profile high lift can collapse a hyrdaulic. (so I'm told)
Personally I run a WEB .500 lift and 290 duration, solid lifters, dual valve springs, aluminum push rods. 14lb flywheel and very balanced. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" /> This is how I bought the car. I still have the 44IDF's ready for shipping when you are ready. this engine could spin to 7000 RPM's. Since my son drives it now the 40 IDF's with smallish ventruis limit him to about 5500. PLENTY FAST ENOUGH!
