Post Help with my 73 914 1.7L runs rough cold

We have a problem that is small and getting worse. Hesitation and balking after start until thoughly warm. Idles okay, but push on the gas and it balks, or cuts out. Kind of like a wet dist cap problem I once had.

I have the fuel injection. Otherwise it runs great.

I do seem to have another problem. When I start the car, the starter turns very slow, like a weak battery. But it does not matter if the car sits for a day, or a month. Same thing... Is this a starter issue? Maybe high current draw? The ground strap is on the trans, and the alt buts out 12.9-13.5. If

There are several things to check

* Verify you don't have any intake leaks. A cold engine is most sensitive to a lean mixture.
* Verify head temp sensor is good by checking its resistance
* Try richening the idle mixture on the engine brain.
