Post Cross Referencing and Flares

Hi again,
Just wanted to know if anyone has a list of cross refernce parts for the 914...I'm assuming cross refernced to VW...or know a website with a listing.

Also, for those of you who have fabricated their own flares, I'd like to hear stores as to how it was done.
Thanks
Mike

Mike,
Fabricateing your own flares is not difficult but is time consuming. I have a 914-6 with faricated rear flares to accommodate 8 inch rims. I did not care for the squarish GT look, so I obtained custom, more rounded flares which were prepared by using many pie shaped pieces which were hammer welded together to show no seams. The individual that made these flares is Fred Apgar, located in PA.

Is it possible to have more details as to how to do this procedure? How are the flares put on? Bolted, glued, welded? Is there any way I can put them on top without having to cut the car?
Should I use fiberglass or sheet metal?
What did you use to make the mold out of?
Thanks
Mike

These are metal flares made by hand and they are welded on to the fender after appropiate metal is cut away. Doug Arnao also does this type of work. His web site has my car as well as Jim Foster's flared 914-6. Vehiclecraft.com is the VCI site.
