Default 75 914

Need a couple of opinions, have a chance to pick up a nice set bumpers to back date the heavy 75 rubbers. Now, the car is what I would consider a survivor, 52,xxx mi orig mi, orig int. and paint all in nice shape. I'm I ruining it ? Comming from a corvette backround a survivor car is often worth more than a nicely restored one, the the same hold true for the 914? Or should I just set it up the way I want?

Yes, why wreck a nice original 52K car. If you want to customize one get a nice roller.

If you are sure that this car has only the 50K or so miles and it is truely in as good of shape as you say I would not molest it. Mine is similar in that it has 73K miles and was part of a static collection for 25 of its years. By the way, static collection doesn't mean the same thing as sitting on the side of the garage that your wife doesn't use.

Car is documented all the way back, only two owners.last owner owned it since 78. Car is in nice shape, just needs a good detailing. It was sitting last 3 or 4 years, compression good on the motor all I had to do was a tune up and replace an injector. Both rear calipers were frozen and were replaced, lines flushed and new brake fluid added. She's ready to roll.

I would leave it! There are a lack of orig. 914's in the world and it would be a shame to lose one more. - Jay

If you are going to AX, the externally adjustable Koni Yellows work well cuz you can just drive to the AX and crank them up to stiffen the ride for the course. You can still stay in stock classes usually and have a 914 that will corner nicely without all the expensive upgrades like Tbars, springs, big sway bars...etc.

Geoff, That makes alot of sense. When I upgraded my old 911's suspension I went a little overboard almost killing its street ride. Its A fine line that I don't want to cross( neither does my wallet)
