75 914 Barn find Maybe!
A Friend of mine has the chance to pick up this 75 914 2.0 for a few bucks. How would you guys define the 75 model and by the pictures I have posted is a barn rat or for parts only.

that actually doesnt look too bad.
the pictures arent too detailed, but the longitudinal doesnt look THAT bad, of course you would have to look at the hell hole as well, and the seats look pretty nice
what is the engine, a 2.0?
does it run?

It is a 2.0 the owner has a bunch of parts including new rocker panels, new carbs. The car has been sitting for the last 5 yrs. I'm just concerned about the rust, can you buy fiberglass fenders and how easy it is to rebuild the engine,,,,,is it anything like the VW engine.
I have more pics

It also depends on how much your friend is buying it for? If it is a small amount of money then it could be a great deal. But if they guy is paying large amounts then he should pass. With cars like that you more often then not put more money into it then it is worth. I have learned that the hard way a few times, where I spent a little money on the car and then had to dump a lot into it. I was better off probably buying a car that didn't need to much work in the first place. Good luck - Jay

You are correct in assuming rust is the major issue with 914's.
But even if the tub is beyond repair there are still a lot of salvageable
parts there. For instance, I would be interested in the 2 liter, if
the fuel injection is still intact and complete. Best of luck.

I went and looked at the car this weekend. Norm and Link were EXTREMILY nice and a joy to meet. If anyone would like some more details from a person who has looked at hundreds of 914s please PM me. Thanks again Norm for the help. Best of luck to you and Link selling it.

Norm, I can't wait to get to LRP. My wife has never been there and I am hoping to get her into an event this summer so she can finally drive LRP! Best wishes - Jay
