Hi everyone,
I'm looking to perform my first oil change on my 914 before I put her away for winter. Previously, I left that for my mechanic, but I am getting bold in my old age. I have a set of ramps but no jckstand. Any tips from the more experienced wrenchers? Is the filter easy to get at and oriented to avoid the major oil spill like I get with the 944? Thanks!

Piece of cake....Jack Stands would be better but I suppose you could use the ramps (front wheels).
Filter comes straight down and is close to the engine mounting bar, but it does fit by. Oil pan will catch the oil from the case and the filter area. You also have the oil strainer to take off and clean, but this is not bad either. It's all pretty straight forward. My oil pan is the 5qt open "bowl" type so it does catch the oil form the three areas.
Good Luck !
