Default H4 Headlights and relay

Upgrading to 100 watt H4 headlamps on my 73 2.0. Can anyone recommend the necessary relays I will need to protect my wiring and light switch? Any information on wiring would be helpful also. JWest makes a kit but it is for 911's.
Thanks,
Mike

Might depend on the bulb. Sealed beams are 30 to 60 watts. A halogen bulb in the same range, like 55 watts, should not be a problem. 100 watt bulbs could cause problems.

Yup typically the trouble is the increased current load running thru the old wiring and switches in an un-relayed circuit, when trying to go to 100W+ upgraded bulbs. If you stick close to OE 55/65W bulbs you should be fine.

Have you considered going to LED headlights? Plug and play with a lot more light and lower draw on wiring than stock headlights. That's what I did on my car. On the 914 it is especially nice as the lights are usually down so the different appearance of the LED is not a big deal.
