Default no start, no nothing...... just a key buzzer.

So, I have owned this 914-6 since 1981. Other than maybe a dead battery, it has always started. For a couple of years, I have had a 'funky key', meaning maybe I had to turn it a couple times to get it to crank. Yesterday, it cranked once, then next time I turned the key, nothing. No warning lights, nothing but a buzzer that the key was inserted. I figure it's the ignition switch.

What else to do you think I should check? I mean, it's really weird to turn the key and have no warning lamps, no fuel pump, no nothing. The only thing I get is a key buzzer.

Ignition switch?

Battery voltage?

Sounds like the switch.

Probably the ignition switch, but what kind of battery is in it. If an AGM, like an Optima, they can go from completely normal to completely nothing when they fail vs a normal lead acid battery that gets weaker and weaker.

Sounds like an ignition switch to me too. But it has been so long since I was able to start my car, ('71 914-6) that i do not recall the ignition switch having a buzzer......

Most likely the ignition switch, having the same issue with my 6/conversion.
