Default Seat covers

My '73 914 has some tears in the seats. I'm going to order new seat covers and have them redone. On 914rubber, there are early and late seat covers. I'm not sure which is appropriate for my car. Does anyone know? TIA

Alex

Just a guess but the "early" ones may have the larger, fixed position passenger seat and the "later" ones are probably what you need for your '73 where both seats are on tracks that slide fore and aft and the passenger seat isn't 1-piece with the center console.

Give Mark at 914Rubber a call, he is very helpful. I too believe you want the late seat covers however.

you want to get the brick weave pattern we call it, the later is the so called basket weave. In 73 there was black tan and brown brick weave as well as corduroy. Seat recovering kits come in three pieces bolster cushion and backrest. The cushion and backrest you can probably do yourself, the bolster (smooth vinyl French stitched, is hard to stretch to make it look right. Our lady sue who makes all of this stuff, is a stickler for the original patterns and having a good guy install it. If not everything is bad, you can just replace one of the three on the list I provided
