getting rid of old car?
Has anyone ever junked an old car? I've got a shell left an was wondering how to get rid of it. What's the norm?
Do you pay someone to come get it? Some auto salvage yards advertise "free" car removal.
But my car is pretty much stripped of anything salvagable so I don't even know if a junk yard would want it. The wheels are gone so I couldn't even tow it there.
At what point do junk yards stop wanting your car and you start having to pay them to come and get it?

My 914 is getting so lite that I can lift the front or rear off the jack stands. I plan on puttin it on a trailer and taking it to the scrap heap. Unless I find someone that wants it. I got one guy that may.
Car was burnt in a garage fire. I have removed everything salvageable except the doors. they are next

I'm half way through stripping my 914. I guess if it's that light I can just haul it to a scrap yard myself. How much does just the shell weigh? I have a 5x8 trailer that might just work.

My partner and I had a 914 that was so rusted (no engine or trans.) that we picked it up with just the two of us, flipped it over and cut it into little pieces and took it to the junk yard. It was sad to cut it up, but it had to be done. If all else fails, dig a big hole! Best wishes - Jay Gratton
