Default 914 Install stock heat exchange on 1974

Presently on a 1974 914 are headers with race exhaust . I have the original stock heat exchange and muffler. My question is can I swap out the system without removing the tranny and engine ?

I'm sure there are people more expert than I, but I don't recall having to drop the engine/tranny when I replaced my rusted out original heat exchangers with new ss ones on my 74 2l many years ago. Might want to post on 914World, which is a bit more active than this forum. You'll probably get an answer within 10 minutes.

Yes, everything bolts up from the bottom. Use new copper gaskets in the exhaust ports, new copper flange nuts on the studs, and new gaskets between the heat exhangers and muffler. The muffler hanger bracket can sometimes take some finagling, but you'll work it out.
