Default How Is This Porsche 912 Worth $4,000?

Don't get us wrong, the entry-level four-cylinder 912 is cool and all, but this car deserves the label "rust bucket" just as much as anything else out there.

You'd be hard pressed to find a single part on this car that isn't damaged in some way. Everything is either rusted, dented, or both.

"How Is This Porsche 912 Worth $4,000?"

The short answer is it isn't. That car has been kicking around on many different sales listing sites for 6-8 months. I believe the original asking price was $7,000. Basically, it looks like you'd be buying a pair of headlights and a rear-view mirror.

I think it was the limited slip diff that made it worth something.

Needs to go on dead Dead VIN master list or you'll be paying $500K for that # in a few years!

Perhaps the gauges are salvageable, not much else. The entire car seems to be melting into the ground. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust!

Default 912 scrap basket

Yes , I agree the vin # is a big factor.
Hunting cars you run across the BHCC in many online venues and they seem to specialize in Vehicles on their last legs. Interestingly these scrap heaps are not in any way rare. Really. Most of the time the cars are presented as restorable.
In all fairness they have better cars for sale but it makes you wonder about their whole inventory. A truly shady outfit to be avoided by most people.
