Just a word of caution and note to myself... Do not remove a part without first checking availability...
Seems that a lot of the parts for the steering column are no longer available (nla). I removed the rubber bushings at the bottom of the column (part number 901.347.795.00 and #7 in the diagram below), inside the trunk, and now I find that those are nla.
I will try to salvage the ones that I took out. Maybe install them upside down so that the compressed part goes to the bottom.

These came in...
and with a little persuasion, cursing, tools, and technique... they went in
I will install the center inserts once those are zinc plated to protect from rust...

I know that everyone is recommending that I stick with the original color... but I am so tempted to paint it in one of these two colors...
Aubergine
Orange
Or even Vesuvius, like the 993C2S I had... how I miss that car...
Colors of the era...

If I were to change colors on my 912 (which I am considering) , I would pick Red or Tangerine maybe favoring the latter. However, since you are already red, I would stick with that. But it is your car and you should do what ever you want especially if you have no plans to sell it anytime soon,

FYI the orange in your photograph is Signal Orange, not Tangerine. But Tangerine is a good looking color on a longhood. (It's a little bit more tomato-y orange.)

I was wondering about that but I was chalking it up to my colorblindness....which btw is a good reason not to listen to my opinions on color anyway

Color choice is always one of the hardest things for me. I tend to side with staying original just because if I were to change it to another color I would want zero trace of the old color. It also makes a difference on resale value, original color is always worth more. my .02 Either way you go, I love what you've done with the car and am excited to continue watching progress
