Guess what?.. I found a set of original 4.5" Fuchs for my 912 (the car came with them originally but the prior owner had sold them years ago). Here is the crazy part... This set were sitting in a general storage unit property less than 2 miles from me for years.

I have them currently under proper restoration for installation on my 1967 early this year.

Hey fans. All four 4.5" are done & being mounted up with the correct 165 tire. Here are some details as we work through the process:

4.5
Rare 4.5" set

Fuch Finish details
Fuch Finish details - lip face & spoke face, with differing inset finish. These wheels were pretty impressive back in 1967 (can you imagine?). All 11lbs each of them. Fuch was just a little company, and honestly, so was Porsche! Impressive that together they produced this wheel ~ that is a staple on so many of the cars we love.

Hearts
Hearts! Near the valve stem has a slight heart shape. An important detail.

All of this stuff is great, but next I will let you see the result. 4.5" Fuchs are a different look, so next we will see how we like it! Hang tight.

Okay rennlisters I have got them all mounted up, balanced & installed.

You may cast doubt but the lightness (under 11lbs each wheel) and this delightful little tire (Pirelli 165) have changed the handling to its favor. It feels more toss-able, and the car generally feels even better!

Many find the 4.5" offset polarizing (as a younger man I did), but I have deep appreciation for them now.

I am thrilled with the update/backdate. Once the salt is cleared off the roads I will take it on a roadtrip & soak in all that the really thin wheels can give me!

All this time following your car and it is the first time that I realize that it has a sunroof... how the heck I missed that.

Thank you for the video, really enjoyed it. It does look gorgeous. So only took you ten years to find the wheels, yikes!

You know I had a line on a few sets within that 10 years. Bid on several on line but never won. Then John Dunkle (of Rennlist fame) told me that his 912 project came with a set- but I could not figure out a way to buy them. All the while this set was just a few minutes away. Luck I tell you!

Yeah sunroof car. I have researched that it may be one of 9 with that option. It works too!
