causing leaking acid onto the car trunk

Why the 912 Porsche 1967 battery tray have three holes on the bottom causing leaking acid onto the car trunk which causes corrosion?

sounds like a bad battery that needs replaced. the battery tray shouldnt have holes as far as i know. i recomend a dry cell battery like an optima or odyssey, as they will never leak battery acid.
