912 or rx-7
I have someone interested in trading their 1968 porsche 912 for my 1986 rx-7 turbo. I was wondering if anyone on here could tell me whether or not they think it is a good deal. The 912 runs great mechanically, many, many new parts. The only thing it needs is a slight interior restoration. No carpet, small tear in drivers seat, etc. Also, What am I looking at price wise if I decide to sell the 912 once it is restored?
Thanks

Hey,
Watch out for RUST!! this is the biggest issue and most expensive. A driver will fetch 6-8K, a well restored one will fetch 10-12K and a perfect orginal one may get 15 up to 20K. Since a 912 is a 911 body-wise, you can spend 20+K to get it right. I don't know the market on 1986 rx-7s, it's obviously a very different car. I love mine, it's a competent DE, auto-xer and driver when sorted. Let us know what you do.
Brgds, Peter

Any old 912 calls for an examination by a early 912/911 expert, w/ particular attention to the chassis, accident history, drivetrain & susp/steering... I'd also want to trace its past, if possible. Interior restoration can be costly, if done to fact original spec. A straight, unrusted, well sorted 912 is a fulfilling car to own if you find the driving experience to your taste.
