Hi All
Doing a bit of maintenance on my 1966. The sound deadening is the old foam backed rubber type and its starting to fall down on the sides of the engine bay. Should i try to refix or replace. Any ideas please.
Thanks
Rob
I’m not sure of the condition of your pad but I actually have gone without a pad at all. I painted the engine compartment satin black and since our 912s are really raw I don’t believe the sound deadening does a whole lot.
Now having said that, my car is a Renegade/Outlaw style so having the pad gone does not matter to me.
I think the engine compartment looks very clean painted without it. You can check out all my mods on my string here on pelican.
I had been running for >10 years with just por 15 and sound reading paint. It was very raw as rrc715 indicated and I really liked it. I have a big bore kit with cam and Busch exhaust. Last fall I finally installed a factory style new foam pad. It is significantly quieter and I now enjoy the drive much more…
