Default 912e question

Greetings from the 996 forum,

We are restoring a 912e and want to add pop-out rear windows. The car came with fixed windows so this is a true change. It appears that there is a metal flange spot welded in where the leading edge of the frame that will prevent us from passing the mounting brackets to their destination holes. Does anyone know if these flanges should be removed (and maybe some openings for the brackets created) to mount the pop-outs?

Many thanks in advance.

I don’t have your answer but I would suggest you also reach out to the 912BBS forum. Good luck on your project. RC

odd coincidence on that site; there is another person with my name who apparently also has a 912e (actually my dads but anyway). Crqzy for a low production 40 year old car.
