Default Arg! I shoulda bought an '83!!!

I know the conventional wisdom is to purchase a pre-73 car to avoid emissions but that is not the case here in Massachusettes. In the peoples republic of Mass it's EIGHTY-THREE and older are exempt from emissions testing.

I've got an 84, thus every two years I've got to sweat a dyno run.

Live and learn....

I live in Louisiana and our law is 79 and older is emissions exempt. Good point, I thought all states were the same except CA.

Yeah but you don't have to upgrade your chain tensioners)

I used to take off my cat on my 951 every 2 years after I passed the e-test. Seems a bit harder to do that now with the 930.

What a pain! Luckily, here in PA cars logging less than 5000 miles per year are exempt from emissions testing. However, safety inspection still applies, and of course there is a fee for the exemption sticker (just as much as the emissions test itself, coincidentally). So far, nobody has complained about the lack of a cat.

In Ohio if you register your car as a collector car (obvious restrictions apply but 911 Turbos any vintage do count) and apply for collector plates you are exempt from emissions testing. Did it on the 930, will try to accomplish same for 951 upon renewal.

KEN, I know a few places in the Philly area that will get you the proper inspection stickers without the hassel
