Default Which was standard for US 79' Turbo?

I'm having a '79 930 restored and it currently has the Euro Amber taillights and yellow reflector up front next to the turn signal. Obviously, the taillights were not standard for the US version, those should be red. But, I see different '79 models with the reflector in front or a black bumper insert instead. Just trying to determine which is stock for '79...reflector or bumper insert?

Thanks for your inputs.

The top picture has the correct front end for a North American (U.S.) 2nd Build Type '79 930. The rear lenses as you noted would be red.
The lower picture is of the front end of an '80 - '83 RoW 930. A 'RoW '79 930 would look similar but all RoW '78 and '79 930's had snorkel headlight washers. And, yes, the Row cars had amber rear lenses.

Those pictures of the two differently configured cars look amazingly similar.

Thanks for the info. Yes, my '79 is a MY '80 which was produced in 9/79. I'm assuming that the reflector was a US DoT requirement, whereas, not a requirement for RoW vehicles? Instead of Porsche sticking it on the front quarter panel, they opted to integrate it into the bumper. Is that about right?

And yes, I agree, similar vehicles that look outstanding. I'd take either one

Thanks again for your reply.

Yes, the reflector fulfilled a US DoT requirement on the North American 911/930 body style whereas the RoW cars of this period were delivered with a section of rubber trim. Many Euro 930's imported to the U.S. in the '80's had the reflectors added as part of necessary DoT compliance.

Porsche had their act together when they redesigned the impact bumper 911 allowing the DoT side reflector to be much more attractive than the hockey puck design found on the 914 and 924 in the '70's

Actually, 79 turbos also had the low profile headlight washers. It all depends on the production date. Most say the change from snorkel to low profile was midway through production. An MY80 car may have also had the later adjustable sugar scoops. My Last 50 turbo had H4s so I cannot verify, but MY80 SCs had the newer sugar scoops.

This is front of #1031, built 10/79, the Euro H4's are not original to car
