Default Original Tire Replacements - 84 Euro 930

Hello
Looking to buy new Pirelli tires in the original type/size for the above car. I think the original size is front - 225/45 VR 16 (6 in rims) and rear 245/35 VR16 (7 in rims). Can you confirm the sizes are correct and recommend a place to buy the tires? Thanks,
Don

Don, factory tire specs are 205/55/16 and 245/45/16.

As far as I know, the OE Pirelli's [P7000's?] are no longer in production. You will [quickly] come to realize that your options for replacement tires are [very] limited due to rear fitment. I believe BFGoodrich, Kumho, and Toyo still manufacture R-compound tires in the appropriate sizes, front and rear.

Depending on day of the month, phase of the moon, and alignment of the planets, rear tire availability is simply a roll of the dice.

Happy hunting!

Hola Allen
You are right on all counts. The tires are currently the sizes you state of Pirelli P700 - Z. After extensive online hunting and some phone calls, they are not to be found anywhere. What I was able to find are Bridgestone Potenza RE 11 in the same size from a Bridgestone dealer. They are "V' rated instead of "Z". It will take 2 weeks for the special order. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they are shipped. I was told the RE 11 is soon to be replaced and the new version won't have the 16" wheel option. Muchas gracias for your answer and great info!
Regards,
Don

Don, check the date codes on the sidewalls to be safe when you get the tires.

Don, that's a great tire. I run the RE-11 [in a 245] on my 944. Very stable, relatively quiet, and impressive dry performance from its 200 UTQG rating. If I'm not mistaken, the 245mm RE-11 is W rated and should be good for 168mph.

As far as its replacement not being manufactured in a 16" version, the RE-11A was released a while back. Under that new formulation, it's still made in a 205/55 and a 225/50, but not in a 245/45, 16. Hopefully, Bridgestone will continue to make the RE-11 for years to come. I might even give them a call and thank them for filling this small, but critical, niche.

Regardless, you won't be disappointed with your recent purchase. Happy motoring...

PS As Igooz said, check the date codes on the tires when you receive them to make sure they haven't been sitting on the shelf for too long.

Default Tires for Turbo

I recently ordered a set from Coker Tires, 205/55x16 and 245/45x16. I think they are Michelins. They are due to arrive in May and will be new production.
Prior to that I had no luck with eBay, Tire Rack or Discount Tire.

Tire Rack shows RE11 in stock in both 205-55-16 and 245-45-16.
