Default Garage find!!!

Gentlemen,
I have a lead on a "barn find". Making calls soon to verify. Vehicle was found by a friend. Build date: 12/75. The car lists as a 1976 model, with a true "Carrera 3" engine. Yes, the mileage is correct!! Due to various reasons, I hesitate to be more specific, the car has sat since 1977. The individual who found the vehicle got the "whole" story and it checks out. I have photos of chassis/motor numbers and they also check in the Porsche registry. Any suggestions on offer price and cost to restore/refurbish? I have a thick skin, go for it!!

If that's actual mileage it would be a $250k car in mint condition. It's got to be worth a lot as it sits; hard to put an exact price on it. I'd say grab it at nearly any price south of 100k

That's what I was thinking. It'll take some work to get, but more than worth it. As far as the restore....how much to do? I don't want to touch paint, etc, but I'm sure engine will need some work.

Wow! Do whatever it takes to move VERY quickly on this. Just when you think you are the only person that has the lead you find out you didn't. If that's actual miles its a VERY valuable car. It will need a full mechanical refresh but it's nothing a few $$ can't solve, you can never solve originality.. Best of luck!

Marc's: mileage is true. The story behind the car is very interesting. For obvious reasons, I'm withholding details as to not give away the cars location. Don't want to have someone beat me to the punch. The story explains condition and mileage. I have verified details of the back story as well as the several witnesses who can verify the story and the fact that the car hasn't moved for nearly 40 years!

Very exciting... hope it works out. I have an 87 in stock original show room condition, with just 5k miles all verified and great history. Neat to know you have a time capsule

Cheers

TT: not sure about the flip? I'm close to retirement, would be fun to take it to concours and cart it around to collect ribbons!

Wife: how many freakin Porsches do you need?
Me: one more than I have now!!

Looks nice but I don't think it has sat since 1977 since it has 1981+ Euro side markers on the front fenders.

The speedo is from the 1980s as it has more KPH marks than the 1970s versions. I've attached an image of a correct 300 KPH speedo installed in a 1976 RoW Turbo.

idart: I really appreciate the info! I have yet to lay eyes on the car. Only pics and verified (maybe NOT) the story. Can you i.d. the mounted equip. under the dash. I'm trying to get more pics. Very much appreciate your expertise and help.
