Door Color Badge
my Vin #ends in 991. If what I am reading is correct, than my 79 930 is number 991 of 1200. That's pretty cool.
The color appears to be Schwartz on Cork 700-9-2
Does anyone what color Singer Vehicle Designs uses on the Indonesia Gray?
Seems like Agate Gray on Carrera red?
The dream..

i think I have a winner
it may bot be a pure Porsche factory color...but a cross between Slate and Meteor and Seal Gray......either way...I love this combination of Gray and Red, I reached out to singer...I am hoping I can identify the red they are using...

Anybody have an idea as to which color red is being used in the interior....I am tossed between medium red and lobster.....I guess I could call singer and ask...but I am certainly not buying their product..I have a feeling the answer will be "its our own creation"

I need some help in understanding the value of a 1979 930 Turbo that has spent a few too many years sitting around. ( some of which was outside)
The car was once a daily driver but the owner passed and it sat around until it was given to a buddy of mine.
Car has 49k miles. The paint is shot and needs to repainted. The interior was removed and 2 cobra seta with 4 pt harness were installed along with a welded in 1/4 cage.
The car has a wrap on it which needs to be removed.
Tune up was done and car runs well with no apparent oil leaks.
Shift linkeage shot.
Fan belt keeps popping off.
Wheels are 16" BBS.
Head liner is in good shape.
My plan is to restore the car.
I know it will need linkeage, clutch, brakes, tires, paint, complete interior at a minimum.
Thanks. This is my first post on Rennlist. I have always loved the 930 and really hope be an active member of this forum,

Little update on the car. It's been completely stripped and disassembled. No rust which is almost impossible to believe being 35 years old. The body was sanded and smoothed and it goes for primer this week.
As for the interior- I have sourced all the missing parts thanks to all here on Rennlist and Pelican, and what I could not find I bought at Sierra Madre.
I have a new fabspeed header w /heat and exhaust system coming, and may upgrade the turbo to a 7200 or at least have the 3ldz rebuilt.
I have decided to replace every rubber seal and felt strip at this point.
Original carpet arrived today from Lakewell- so lots of parts ready to be put back.
Just need some flapper boxes for the heat ...

Making progress
4 more months till it warms up in Northern New Jersey- plenty time to finish the project.
Car goes in the booth this week. Color choice has come down to 3:
A) original black (700) since values are going up might be best to keep original
B) black metallic ( 728) - gives me a little of that charcoal I love
C) ferrari grigio silverstone ( like antracite ). Favorite color and one that will show off the trim and body lines IMO.
Since I bought the car for my pleasure, I am torn between black and grigio.
The interior is being 100% recovered in world uph cuoio / natural tan leather. Almost identical to Cork - but touch

Drifting
Porsche had a very nice metallic black- code 708 that was used in 79. I am trying to find pics of the one I used to own, it's more of a dark grey than a black. I also have a 77 that is metallic black- it's a PTS sample color, very difficult to capture true color with a camera.

MZ3 SBC...this is really a tough call!!! I just went through the same thing on a 1972 911S that I picked up 2 years ago to Hot Rod and have fun with...I was going to paint it white and do what I want to it. But as I have been watching the prices sky rocket AND peer pressure, I decided to restore it mostly back original and paint it the original color (936-9-3) original silver. Mind you, I dislike silver.
When my car is done I will get rid of it as it does not do anything for me anymore! I buy these cars for fun and not for business...(^ I should have bought Phil's hot rod but timing was wrong)

Great conflicting advice. I left it up to the painter. I am sure I will love it spin any color, guess I should learn to love the color that will yield the best resale.
