Default G50/52 in a 930 with no shortening

I now have a G50/52 ready to go into the race car (1975 930 shell) but I don't want to modify the transmission (well not in terms of overall external dimensions anyway).

I want to cut the chassis which we plan to do anyway.

The torsion bars are out, the tube can go and we are fabricating new mounts for the inner mounts for the trailing arms.

Has anyone done this?

Regards

I have seen a 6spd in a 74 chassis, mated to a 2.1l twin turbo with 935 bodywork, basically a 935 'baby'. What specifics are you looking for? The tail of the trans is held by the cage inside the car.

I had already planned to cut out the "tunnel" into the back seats. We intend put a hatch in the back of the car so we can open up the transmission and back of the engine and then seal off the back half of the cabin with a bulkhead like a chequer cab!

So I guess we clear everything out of the way of the front of the tranny and fab new mounting for it on the cage, as you say.

I won't foul any component of the suspension will it?

Assuming you are are using coilovers I wouldn't see any issues. You will want to get the alignment of the engine/trans correct (trans tailshaft height).
