3000 rpm hangup
Greetings.
I have a 1989 930 Targa that's in great working condition except for a weird hangup at the 3000rpm mark.
When reaching the 3000 rpm level the car feels like it hit an acceleration limit if not under full load.
As soon as I press the accelerator for a wot or full load, the 3000rpm mark is crossed, but not before or under any other circumstance.
Any help?

Since you haven't listed your car, with any associated modifications, in your signature, it would help if you provided as much detail as you can:
- how long have you had your car?
- has it always behaved this way?
- any modifications/aftermarket parts?
- conditions for non-standard operation
-- environment [cold, hot, rain, snow, doesn't matter]
-- cold start, hot start, doesn't matter
-- first gear, second gear, doesn't matter
-- stop and go, city driving, highway cruising, doesn't matter
Lastly, please describe the issue and how it occurs with a bit more detail. Again, no information you provide will be too much.

Right, so I've bad the car for a couple of years. It's very much stock, the only mods so far are zug hid lights(really great!), ruf wheels, and sound system(head unit, speakers and amplifier). The problem was there before the lights. I've replaced the wur and spark plug wires as well as rebuilt the distribuitors to no avail.
The car behaves like this wether hot or cold, any gear, any weather, city highway, the condition is pretty permanent. Our weather is hot and humid year long.
The problem is just it refuses to cross the 3000rpm mark unless the throttle is wide open, regardless of gear, hot or cold, any kind of driving when I start it. It's just a constant. As soon as WOT is caused the 3000rpm barrier is crossed an the car behaves quite normal again. If I stop or go below the treshold the whole process repeats itself.
Thanks in advance!

Still running with the stock CIS fuel injection system? Pull off the air cleaner housing and check the action of the metering arm. You should be able to fully depress it smoothly. Could be it's hanging up and stops from moving until you WOT to pull enough vacuum beneath it to overcome whatever is sticking it from moving freely. If that were to happen, both your fuel and air flow would starve until it broke free and started moving again.

Also, you mentioned replacing the WUR and the plug wires...but not the plugs, coil, or CDI box. Have you checked those?
Let us know what you find.

So I took of the intake system and Mark was nearly adopt on.
The fuel injector for the fuel distribuitors had lost its o-ring. Age, previous owner? No idea.
As it was working lose it was leaking fuel and not holding its place.
I will replace o-ring and try out result.
Will get back with news this week.
