detonation

Hi:
Detonation is normally identified by sound; you'll hear a light knocking from the engine on acceleration. It has a particular pitch and timbre to it that does not sound like mechanical noises.
The spark plugs can show tiny specs of aluminum on them which are bits of piston,..............
I hope you are not experiencing this as it requires immediate attention & resolution. Its caused by insufficient octane fuel, too much ignition timing and lean mixtures.

I'm not sure if you are hearing a noise now, but don't confuse detonation with the sound an engine makes with a broken head stud which is a much heavier sound that also appears under hard acceleration.
